I’m with you about the Phelps thing. He shouldn’t apologize. He wouldn’t have to apologize for drinking, or drinking coffee, so it’s time to make a stand about marijuana.
And you make a good point. He smoked weed AND he also won a shit-ton of OLYMPIC GOLD FUCKING MEDALS, so HE’S not the one who should be apologizing. The asshole that took (and kept) the photo should apologize. The asshole who publicized the photo should apologize. Anyone who accuses him of being a poor role model should also re-evaluate their own lives instead of casting stones at him.
Maybe he’s a GOOD role model because he knows how to balance a demanding professional career with recreational drug use. Let’s not forget, we’re ALL drug users, whether it’s alcohol, nicotine, caffeine or something else. We ALL have to balance our personal and professional lives, we all have to moderate our chemical use, and Phelps is no different. He should be considered a good ROLE MODEL, not demonized.
